Stream Analytics Feed/Purging historic data

Hi all, running into a situation with stream dashboard using Azure stream analytics as a source.  Stream is working fine, but I need a way to limit the time window of the stream.  The end viewer does not need to see the stream for more than say an hour window because the data is archived as well through a seperate stream if they want to go do a further analysis.

I have tried going into the dataset settings  and setting the option "Historic Data Anlysis" to off.  This does a one time purge of the data.  However, it also results in two error conditions:

1. My visual on the report breaks, and throws and error:

"Something is wrong with one or more fields."  Details:

2. The second issue is that the ability to purge the data set now seems entirely lost.  I can no longer switch the "Historic Data Analysis" button to the on or off position, it just keeps throwing an error:

"The data could not be updated.  Please try again later or contact support." The detail of the error contains the following:

Oddly enough, the dashboard tile is still streaming just fine-it is only the report that is broken.  If I look at the tile on the report it says:

At this point, the only way for me to reset is to delete the data set completely, and to rebuild the report and dashboard.  Any help much appreciated!
